FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions — Lupin House Animation Mentorship

Do I Have to Use Lupin House Rigs?

Yes! Our mentorship includes exclusive access to a custom-built family of animation rigs, only available to Lupin House students. Working with our in-house rigs ensures we can help you push your shots further through the production pipeline — all the way to lighting and rendering!

Do You Provide Autodesk Maya Licenses?

No. Students are required to have their own Autodesk Maya license before joining our programs. Maya is the primary software used in our courses and mentorships.

How Do I Share My Animation Work During Class?

We use SyncSketch — a powerful platform designed for animators to share WIPs (work-in-progress), receive drawovers, comments, and time-coded notes. It’s free to use and perfect for real-time feedback and collaboration.

How Do I Join My Mentorship Class?

All mentorship sessions are held via Zoom. You'll receive your unique Zoom link upon enrollment in your chosen class.

What Happens if I Miss a Class?

If you miss a live session, it will not be repeated. However, don’t worry — see the next question about recordings!

Are Classes Recorded?

Yes! Every class is recorded and uploaded to your mentor’s folder on Skool. You’ll retain lifetime access to these recordings even after your mentorship ends — perfect for reviewing material anytime.

Do I Lose Access to Rigs and Discord After the Mentorship?

Nope! You’ll have lifetime access to all Lupin House rigs (including future releases) and to our student community Discord server.

Can I Start Anytime?

Yes! Our mentorships are rolling — no fixed terms or semesters. If the class has space, you can start right away. If not, you’ll be placed in the next available spot. We designed our program to be flexible and ready when you are.

Can I Get a Refund?

Please note that all purchases are final. We encourage you to thoroughly review our offerings before enrolling. Our team is here to answer any questions you may have before committing.

Am I Good Enough to Join?

Absolutely. Lupin House mentorships are customized for all skill levels, from beginners to professionals. We’ll assess your current strengths and weaknesses and help you level up fast — all while keeping the process fun and motivating.

How Long Are the Mentorships?

We offer 6-week, 9-week, and 12-week mentorships. The length you choose depends on your goals, experience, and how much support you need from your mentor.

You’ll meet with your mentor every week to go over your shot’s animation and the progress you’ve made. This allows you enough time to make great advances on your shot in between sessions. Your mentor will give you feedback during these classes,  whether that’s through draw-overs, providing references, showing how they’d approach it, going through your maya file, and so much more. Every session is extremely personable and 1:1 while simultaneously having the awesome opportunity to see your peers’ work and the feedback they receive.

Our favorite part… seeing our students’ shots lit and rendered to look like they belong on the big screen. At Lupin House, we have our personal in-house lighting team that is solely dedicated to creating a polished and exceptional piece for our students’ showreels. Their treatment includes modeling a complete environment, creating beautiful textures for our characters and backgrounds/props, lighting the shot in a way that highlights the animation, and rendering the scene. All of this at an industry quality level, of course.

Please note: Only finished shots will be rendered. "Finished" means your mentor has approved your work with no further notes. We do not render incomplete animations.

PROFESSIONAL RENDER

While actively in your mentorship, you’re also free to receive extra reviews from Steven J. Morris, senior animator and Lupin House founder. Our goal here is to help you push through and finish a better animator than when you started, so it’s an all hands on deck effort! We are always more than happy to give students extra help - sometimes that extra bit is what’s needed to crack that door open to a new opportunity.
